Two large male brown bears start a fight over who gets the best fishing spot. The fight was not serious, as there were so many great places to fish. Katmai National Park, Alaska.

Canon 1D Mark II, Canon 500 mm f/4 L IS lens plus 1.4x TC = 700 mm at f/5.6 1/320 second at ISO 400. Slight crop.

Cool framing and great timing. I like the sense of movement in this photograph. Colours do look a bit strange IMO as the bears seem to have a bit too much yellow.

Thanks.

I looked at the foamy water and the water drops. These should be white.
The foamiest water has values like RGB= 208, 209, 204 and 198, 199, 194
and the water drops values like RGB= 217, 219, 216 and 235, 235, 235.
This indicates the color balance is very close.

The color of the bear's fur changes with how wet it is. But the fur around the head, if dry, is typically a lighter yellow. You can see that effect with the fur close to the water, which appears dark brown.

What a great expression on the bear on the left. I would prefer a wider view so that the ears of both bears were in the frame. Nice action.

Thanks.
I also wanted a wider field, but it happened so fast and so close, I did not have time to take off the 1.4x TC or change lenses. So I decided to make some unique images of close up expressions.

Great action! Really like the eyes on the bear on the left.
