Image made yesterday morning along the Fisherman's Trail to North Beach at Sandy Hook (NJ). Could have used some head turn.

Canon 30D and 300mm f/2.8L IS w/ 2x TC; Handheld

1/250 sec @ f/5.6; ISO 400; +1/3 EV; Focal length 600mm

Ed, this is lovely! I'd tone down the one lighter spot directly across from the bird and take a look at the white patch on his chest to make sure it's not blown; the rest is gorgeous!

Hi Ed,

Love the soft light but the bird looks soft in my calibrated monitor. I also find the perch too big for the subject but over all, I like the feeling to this image.

Ed,

Nice soft light and good framing. I don't mind the perch, but agree with Julie that toning down the light spots in the BG while keeping the color in the BG would be great. The bird is soft, but a little selective sharpening should improve that. Good capture!

The head turn is perfect for me. Just tone down the lighter parts of the bird, Well done.
