As far as I can see Art's photo is amongst those published by some UK newspapers as well as Sky News. The same five appear at the following link

They all appear to have one sort of prize but none are cited as being the overall winner, according to the competition website the full results will be published on 30th October. Art is HIGHLY COMMENDED in the Animal Behaviour : Birds Category, and Chris Van Royen receives the same accolade in the Animal portraits category.

Hey Roman,

This is my sixth honored BBC image. Have come close but never won a category. This is my first honored digital image after too long a drought...

As the judging is extremely subjective I try not to get too excited when I have an image honored and not to get to excited when I do not :) :) :)

Thanks to all for their kind words.

ps; FIre in the Mist was also Highly Commended and wound up on the cover of the book :Light on the Earth" that featured 20 years of winning images. We still have few copies of that for sale...

Yes, and a big time thanks to Milo who was my host in Cordova, AK several years ago. 90% of the birds left early and well before I arrived but Milo took me to this group behind the supermarket right in town... If not for him, .....

And also thanks to Charles Krebs who inspired this image some 30 (???) years ago with his amazing shorebird spread in Audubon mag.
