i've never gotten a really good in flight shot of one of these guys. this is probably the best one yet. taken at little estero back in may while on vacation. too much work on the eye?

D300, Bigma at 500mm, f/8, 1/2500s, 0EV, ISO 400

thanks for looking and comments and critiques are appreciated.

Well done Doctor Davis,
I like the placement of the bird in frame...details are sharp with good color rendition; and good eye contact...congrats Doctor...:)

Man that Bigma has really done you right, I don't know why you complained about it.
Excellent details and placement.

What time of day was it? Nice job on not overexposing the whites and still getting the details in the dark feathers. The beak really stands out in this pose, which wouldn't happen if the bird was looking down at you and the beak crossing in front of the body.

great image!

Agree with Cheryls comments.... great exposure. Maybe the eye is overdone (oversharpened)? My .02
Very darn good.

I like it a lot Harold Would just take a little from the bottom and reduce the usm.

Cheryl this images made at the beach are helped out by the reflection of the sand Sort of opens the shadows a bit.

Nice one MR H - think the eye is good as it is. Not too bad for a lens that was no good ;)
