Congratulations Rich Steel !
The BBC just announced the winners of their 2008 photo contest.
2008 theme: 'Animals in Action'.

Rich was the overall contest winner.

IMO it was not really a fair contest. Rich won the contest with an image that was selected BPN's IOTW
Avian: Wild and Free. Rich knew if his image was selected BPN's IOTW, it must be good.
That sure made his submission choice much easier, giving him a competitive advantage:D.

Congrats, but what is the BBC "Countryfile" photo competition?

This is not the BBC wildlife photographer of the year comp.

Artie placed in the BBC WPTY for 2008 and in the past. I won a highly commended in 2006.

You should clarify this in your post james..it is misleading as is.

Thanks for the comments. Just to clarify Robert is correct, this is a different competition from the BBC WPTY. I have given full details of what the Countryfile Competition is in this post http://www.birdphotographers.net/forums/showthread.php?t=21172

Congrats Rich, keep up the great work, and thanks for the clarification.

I think the OP is not clear at all.

The thread title is "Congratulations Rich Steel!'

I did not say it was the "BBC Wildlife Photographer Of The Year" contest.
It is however a BBC contest.
The link clearly states which BBC contest Rich won.
It also gives the contest theme as I did.

I am sorry to those who were confused by my post and contest link.

Congrats again Rich.

Well done this was shown on BBC Countryfile TV programme, yesterday, it is a wonderful picture!
Just for further clarification, the competition is run to produce a calendar for this programme, which is sold to benefit the Children In Need appeal run by BBC. I never thought it had anything to do with Wildlife Photographer of the Year in the first place.
I think the post about Art and the WWOY was alkso confusing, I did clarify the actual award won, but only one person has seemed to have noticed.
