Hi Folks!
I'm hoping that my DSL woes are coming to an end and that I will be able to participate more from now on...boy, have I missed you guys...:(
This is Jasmine the tawny owl. She lives in Wales at a falconry centre and I had a wonderful day last Friday photographing her and some of the other owls and birds of prey in beautiful natural settings. My question is this. I deliberately chose side lighting and underexposure as I wanted to half the bird to be in shadow, creating a mood of mystery and drama. Have I achieved this? How could it be improved for maximum impact?? Go to work my friends!!! :D:D

Glad to see you're back Nicki, we've missed you. Love this portrait, excellent details. Wonder how it would look seeing the other eye? However you did capture the mood that you intended.
Regards and don't be a stranger.

Lady Nicki,
Welcome back my lady; Haven't heard from you in a long time...:) I like the composition and the mood conveyed here...I kicked up the contrast and hue just a tad and sharpened the eye...see if you like it...

Gus's repost kicks it up a notch. Like the shadow on the side. Nice shot Nicki.
