Hi all, as I have been really bussy lately, I have no choice but to keep sharing some old images I like. In this case a Tero or Southern Lapwing, photographed near home about two year ago.

Hope you like it!

Nice close-up. Great details, background and colors.
I am not familiar with this species, what are the two "things" protruding from the chest?

Thanks
Raul

Wondeful detail and color in this image Ramon and the lighting is beautiful as well as a great BG. What are the little feathers poking out of the chest ? Or are they feathers . I see that there is one on each side. I saw these birds while in the Pantanal and they are just gorgeous. Many thanks for sharing.

Nice profile portrait. I actually like the dirty muddy bill! I also like the spurs coming out from the wing bend.

Hi, thanks for your commets, those two red things are two little "hooks" these birds have to scare their nest predators or their territory invaders, during their nesting season these guys get even more territorial than usual and they fly almost grazing everybody or anything that comes near them, their nest or their youngs, I have never seen real phisical contact during these attacks but they can be preety intimadating. Hope this ionfo is helpfull!

Hi Ramon,
Beautiful bird and background. I am from Brasil where we see a lot of southern lapwings ( Quero Quero ).As you said they are very aggressive when defending there territory

I really like the spurs poking through the feathers. Also the muddy beak. Great detail and light. I'd like a little room in front of the bird.
