Black-crowned Night Heron
Southern, California
Taken a few days ago I liked the Pickle Weed background and the
wings in the full downstroke position.

Love the sharpness and the perfect wing position. Wish that the little bugger was looking straight ahead rather than a bit to its right...

Sharp! The light is a tad harsh and some of the color seems washed out. I'd suggest adding some more saturation.

Wonderfully sharp with a great wing position. I like the detail in the eye. Like you I think the BG is a nice addition.

Lovely wings down pose and sharp detail. Would like a bit more of a head turn toward the camera, but love the BG. Well captured.

You gotta love the sharpness in this flight shot! Well done Jim! Head angle already mentioned. Like the BG here too. I might boost the contrast and reduce the brightness in the bird.

Hi Doug, You wrote: " I might boost the contrast and reduce the brightness in the bird."
I agree that the whites about the head and neck need to be toned down but booting the contrast would make the whites whiter...

Great flight image with excellent detail and eye contact. I agree a slight head turn would be nice but they do not always cooperate. Fine work and thanks for sharing.

Here's what the image looks like with less brightness and more contrast Artie. I decreased brightness and then reduced contrast. I don't think the whites look whiter than they did. What do you think of this repost?
