Cedar waxwing at our mountain ash tree. Canon XT with 70-300 IS lens at 300mm, f8, 1/800th ISO 800 hand held.

Hi Ryan, Nice job of capturing the action but the steep angle of inclination and the rather awkward wing position are less than ideal.

I agree with your comments Arthur but when he's 20' up in the tree & you are on the ground it's hard to get a parallel perspective.

Ryan, I understand that you were limited by the situation but in photography there are no excuses. We can only judge the image as we see it and I always do my best to do just that. With the subject high above one's position it is always very difficult to create a pleasing image--but usually it is impossible.

Great timing and pose, the berry adds to it. I might sharpen the bird some more.

Waxwings are certainly one of the more entertaining perching birds, and you caught this guy in a pose that personifies this species very well :-) However I agree with Artie re: steep angle and usual results from it. I still enjoy this image, and if it is within your ethics I'd consider eliminating the branch that skims the bird's forehead.

Ryan,
I would bring some of those Berry's down to a feeder!! You can't get up there, so bring it down!
