This is one of the family of Anna's Hummingbirds that has made my backyard their home for the last year. With the onset of the Rose of Sharon blooming they divide their time between the feeders and the real thing.

I like it a lot Goeff I like seeing him on the flower and with great wing position. Would like seeing him turned to the camera more and some separation between the flower and leaf at bottom. Also including the entire leafs or making a deliberate cut would be good.

Excellent sharpness throughout and what a bg !!! Excellent feel I like it a lot !!!

Thanks, Ramon and Alfred - I appreciate the comments.

This is one of a series from several 1 or 2 second bursts. Some of the others do have the hummer in varying positions of head turn. Unfortunately, the leaf positions are as you see them here. It's tough to setup the shot to be perfect since these guys are so quick!

If you want to see others from the series, here's some links:

Really cute pose with the bird balancing on such a large flower. I like the wing position and you did a great job with exposure control. A little more head turn would have been nice. I would lighten the area below the eye a tad. The light was a bit harsh, but overall this is a very nice image.
