I was fortunate to spend about an hour this afternoon with 6 of these Coots. I would have stayed longer but I was in the water with them, and even though I had neoprene chest waders on, after an hour I was cold! Slight crop for composition, 95% of frame.

Canon 20D, Canon 500 f4L IS w/ 1.4 TC, 700mm, 20mm tube, ISO 400, EV 0, 1/800 @ f6.3, Tripod.

Great shot Bryan - love that low viewpoint and the lines of the ripple add a feeling of motion. The contrast between the white beak and dark feathers is always difficult to manage and you have done it well with detail retained in both. That red eye is a great focal point - well done.

Welcome, Bryan! Great angle and exposure control. I also like the water colors. It is a bit tight in the frame for my taste. Keep them coming.

Hi Brain,

Love the smooth water and colors on this one. You did an excellent job with the exposure. I wish for more room facing the bird but that would be it!
