Found a lovely dense patch of globeflower (Trollius albiflorus) in Yellowstone during my spring workshop and had the group practice long lens macro extractions.. Had the group lie down amongst the flowers and just manually focus back and forth looking for interesting comps.. With a moderatly to wide open aperture and shooting right through FG flowers you get some great effects..

Canon 1d2, EF600mmF4IS, 25mm ext tube, Gitzo & Foba flat on ground, ISO 200, 1/250 @ F8

Hey Robert,

This is very classic. I always look for any macro possibilities when I'm with my 400. This image is wonderful!

The diagional comp and the OOF effects are really pleasing.
The OOF FG and BG give it a fog or smoke effect dream effect while keeping the subject sharp.

Very,very nice.

What really impresses me in this image is that it is basically all yeallow except for a touch of green and the flower stands out beautifully agaist the BG. My over all impression of the creation is superb !!! Love it.
