This bird was sitting atop the bushes on the island at the Venice Rookery, FL in March of this year. I wish that the branch did not cut across the bird; not sure about the one sticking up in front of it. Not sure why I was at F11 either. Otherwise, I'm happy this is my first GBH image.

I would try cloning out the branch in front of the GBH and see what it looks like then, while also
removing that one little leaf sticking out on the righter edge.

Kind of curious, how did you get 600mm out of your 100-400?

Thanks, Doug. I had actually cloned out that little leaf at first but backtracked to do something else to the file and forgot to reclone (I have not yet mastered the art of layers). The big branch, yeah, I suppose I should get rid of it. Just seemed like a big job at the time. Now that I look at the image again today, it needs more sharpening, too. As for the 600mm, I honestly don't know. I wasn't using teleconverters or anything like that but everything here from Bridge to my Exif reader to Pbase tells me I was at 600mm. Any ideas?

No idea on that focal length. I went back and looked at all of my 20D shots with
the 100-400 and they all have the correct exif data. At first I thought it was the
camera's crop factor, but none of the numbers add up to 600.

Do you remember if your zoom was at 400?

I looked at your exif data and sure enough, it says the lens was a 600mm and
the focal length was 600.

Do you even own a 600?

I hope somebody can answer this, cause its going to drive me crazy until it is
...and its not even my photo :)

If this is from the Florida IPT, then the 600mm is because Artie let us try out his lens/tripod setup with our own camera(s). Good Morning, Beth;)

Aha, Katie, that must be it! I remembered borrowing Artie's 500 in Cape Coral for the burrowing owls but had forgotten about that first morning. Thanks for solving stirring up this addled brain of mine. :o

Very nice shot, I don't really mind that branch much, I like it as it is, BG and light are great althought the perch is a bit bussy ;) Congratulatons!
