Seven exposures ranging from 1/500 sec, f/22, AEB comp: -3 to 1/8 sec, f/22 to 1/8 sec, f/22, AEB comp: +3, Mode: Av, Metering: Evaluative, ISO: 800

Two versions of an HDR image were created using Photomatix Pro. The left version is more realistic looking rendition and the right image is a “hyper-realistic” look that can be obtained. The 9:03 gate, shown here, faces east catching the morning light and the 9:01 gate faces west catching the afternoon light.

I created this in April of this year while in OK visting my mother, sister, nephews and their families.

What an incredible image, Robert. The lines and the colors are surreal. This is really beautiful.

Interesting on which version is liked more. Thanks for the comments on which version you liked. I only posted both to demonstrate what you can do with HDR from a creative standpoint.

Both are fantastic.......but the left one works for me better. i love the subtle shadows........IMO they add another nice layer.

Lovely indeed. Another vote for the more realistic left version. It's been a few years since I've been there. Hope the survivor tree is still doing well.

Thanks Roman and Judd.

Judd, yes the tree is doing well. When I was there in April w/o my 600mm that morning I had a huge flock of Cedar Waxwings in the tree. I was so bummed that I could not get the images I wanted so I just enjoyed their presence.

With the variances of color and shadow I think the left hand image is my choice.
