How many of you prefer the Spyder system vs. the XRite system? If you have a preference, any major reasons why? RIght now I am interested in monitor calibration primarily, not really looking for a complete printer calibration program. Thanks for an input y'all could provide.

Stay away from spyder. ColorEyes Display Pro used to be Monaco-x-rite. It also will calibrate a laptop model much better than the spyder.

here are some reviews of the major competitors:

I agree with Christian having used both. My profiles with the X-Rite were much better.

Thanks for the links Christian.

I have used ColorEyes w/ DTP-94 colormeter for years now...with great success. And, the new ColorEyes Display Pro software is even better.

Jack Bingham of Integrated Color has it nailed down.

I have both the XRite eye one display 2 and the spyder pro 2. Much prefer the Xrite since you can place it anywhere on the screen not just the center which is very handy since most screen menus pop up in the middle of the screen right where the calibration tool is resulting in issues during calibration. Apart from that I find the eye one is more accurate and generally does a better job calibrating my monitors. Recently upgraded my monitor to an NEC 2690 with SpectraView which came with its own calibration device which is really a renamed eye one display 2.
