Canon 500mm f/4 IS lens, 2x teleconverter, and a Canon EOS-1D Mark II N mounted on a ground pod. AV mode: 1/2000 sec. at f/10. Ft. DeSoto, Florida.

On my last visit to Ft. DeSoto there were a handful of black terns among the hundreds of Royal, Least, and Forster's terns along the beach. I
had to constantly change my position to try to isolate a black tern from the crowd. I was finally rewarded when this black tern gave me a nice wing stretch with enough room so that no other birds appeared in the image.

Lovely shot Linda - great light and pose. Your aperture choice has covered the subject perfectly and still given a good BG. Nothing I can think of to improve the image.

Love the composition and the great detail Linda. The low angle really helped you pull off f/10. I like the gray and blue BG colors too.

Linda this is beautiful I love the total upward stretch and super details and that varied bg is the finishing touch.

A beautiful image. I can't believe you managed to capture a wing stretch of an isolated bird and that too at f10. The low angle gives an awesome feel to the image.

Fabulous! A few of these beauties do visit Long Island...I looked for them all summer to no avail. Fine work getting one by himself, and stretching his wings as well!

Agree with all positive comments before me, I especially love how you've isolated the tern so well from the beautiful and complimentary BG. Perfect exposure too! Fantastic!
