Very nice close up but this image is out of focus. If you pay close attention, the feather in the chest area is sharper than the face. I would also like to see more room in front of the bird! The BG looks very clean!

Hi, I like the light, it looks like a cloudy day light, wich I love, in this case I would have crop it a bit and as Maxis mentioned, the focus in on his chest and not on his face. Have a nice day.

You were able to get close to this lovely jay! Try focusing on the eye of the bird, then recomposing for good composition.

Nice portrait Gene. Focus issues mentioned. closing the aperturea stop or two (would have to increase ISO to maintain shutter speed) would increase your DOF and give you some leeways to focus on the eye and keep the near side sharp. In post processing I would clone out the little feather sticking forward of the breast and the white line behind the eye (looks like some cobweb stuck on the feathers). Have added some selective sharpening to the eye and beak and burnt in the corners a little. Look forward to more of your pictures.
