Homegrown zinnias
Passed across a neighbor's fence
They stand transplanted
In a simple kitchen glass.

Soaking up
Their share of late day sun
She snaps their portrait
A forever memory of summer.

Simple and sweet, it speaks of friendship and sharing, the small pleasure of everyday living. Well done :)

Ooooh - I got goose-bumps and a little misty, too! That's beautiful, Jules!

I think it's great.

What makes it special for me? The late day sun mapped directly to the late time of this summer. You've got the day ending with the summer ending.

It's workin', big time.

Thank you everyone. I don't venture into poetry very often but this simple portrait of my friend's zinnias really seemed to need some simple words. I'm so happy you liked it.
