On a day with split sun and shadows on a 600 ft waterfall, what do you do? Work in the shade only and work closeup scenes!

Nikon D80, Tamron 17-50 @ 35mm, f/14, 1/4 s, tripod, polarizer, chamois cloth to wipe the water away!

This is beautiful. Wish I could go there on that bridge.
Felt something lacking about it. Am still thinking of ways in which this composition cud've looked better. But every thought + some crops gets be back to the original. But I guess, I might still be tempted to crop off some portions from bottom. But that's just me...

Hey Bruce,
I was fortunate to get this waterfall in total overcast and no people! .............not an easy task.......I might go with Kaushik's suggestion and crop some off the bottom as presented..........this would emphasize the bridge and people.......and give a more pleasing horizontzl format. This may have been one of the times to take fastr SS......to get more definition in the water as it is a very poweful waterfall.

I would go with the horizontal crop Roman suggests. A vertical might have worked well here to accentuate the size of the falls and using the people for scale.

Also agree that a fast shutter speed in addition to the slow one would be a good move. If your there, make the most of it vantage point and effect wise.

I like the light quality in the image - the dappled light is pleasing. The image appears a bit soft. I ran a USM on a BG copy at 175/0.3/0 and it did wonders Bruce.

USM is unsharp mask and is a method of sharpening. In Photoshop it is in the Filter > Sharpen > Unsharp Mask menu. The numbers I gave are the settings: Amount = 175, Radius = 0.3 and Threshold = 0.
