I do not mind the bird up in the frame here as he is getting ready to land. I do like the soft light and the strips of color in the sky. Opened up the dark seaweed with a big SH/H ADJ.

Canon 400mm f/4 IS DO lens handheld with the EOS-Mark III. ISO 400. Evaluative Metering + 1 2/3 stops: 1/1250 sec. at f/9.

Don't be shy; all comments welcome.

I don't usually like head on shots but this is killer with the eyes. They are so intense. I love it.

That has GOT to be the most intense face I have ever seen on a bird!!! Wonderful image, Artie. That head angle is killer!!!

I agree about the impact of the face in this guy! and really like the cloud lines in the BG, may be because of their inclination. A really nice image.

well done Artie, I really like the head on stare, and intensity of the image., the bird looks like it would rather go through you, then around you!

Pretty cool capture. The stare and BG make this one for me.

A bird on a mission! Head on poses of flying birds are so difficult to pull off, but this image proves that they are striking when done well. Love the nesting material...just the right size clump....and the bg is beautiful. Wonderful capture.

Cool and tough. The eyes adds that extra to a very good flight image, and the lines of sky colors are working very well. I see that you also stop down to get some depth of field in flight shots like this, and especially with the sky as background more depth of field doesn't matter.

The eyes makes this one special for me. I also like the light and the colors of the BG. I would have preferred the wing tips to be completely sharp.

This one I just love it, that look on his face is priceless, the exposure is outstandding as it is the BG and the pose and composition are amazing, I would have just removed that water drop in the sky. Congratulations Arthur!!
