This is a rare plant in Colorado. "Pipsiskweu" is a Cree indian word meaning it breaks into pieces. Evidently, the indians used it as a remedy for kidney stones.
I shot it in a deeply shaded area of an old growth forest. I was nearly standing on my head to expose the underside of the flower.
Shot with Canon 20D, 100mm lens, Fl4, 1/4 sec. ISO 400. Tripod, reflected light

Hey, Joanna, thanks for sharing this unusual and pretty plant. I'd have liked a little more room to the right to see more of the leaves. You did good with the reflected light.

Well does the remedy work? :D
So great sp i have never seen before thanks for sharing.
I like it but there is some motion blur that ruined the sharpness. Sometimes only 10 out of 100 are really sharp with wind and no flash.
I know what that is like.

I agree with Robert...it's just a little too soft for my taste and that's too bad because I know what you went through to get the lighting right!

What a pretty flower! I'm glad to have seen it even if it is not perfectly sharp; sharing one's finds is one of the joys of photography!
