Or I should say what am I? ( I know, I saw momma)

Photographed in Lakeland, Florida
5/16/2003
Nikon D1X Nikon 600mm AF-S ED F4 with TC14-E
ISO 200 1/90 @ F6.3

I knocked down the ambient light that was affecting (verb usage?) the background and used fill flash to to bring my subject's exposure to where I needed it to be + 1/3

Too too cute and wonderful flash technique. I know what this is but I'm not telling. Cannot believe that you got one so tiny so perfect with a green BKGR?

When???

Don't aks me about grammer or speling.

Thanks for not taking the drama away by answering right away.

It is a full frame image!
I had to work my but off crawling all over the place.

Another "Honey Hole". It was photographed in 05/2003.
Behind a huge church in down town Lakeland.

You must have spent a lot of time in that church praying... Just a killer image.

Moorhen from Lake Hollingsworth ?

Edit : Can I change that to coot ! Not too sure on either though but it is a adorable image.

I would guess a Purple Gallinule chick.

I second Larry's guess of Purple Gallinule.

Cat's out of the bag.

Purple Gallinule it is!

Behind the church across from the old Sears.

Artie,
Thanks for the hints and not blowing this little guy's cover.

Nice James! I saw a Virginia Rail chick this summer that looked similar to this gallinule. Of course, gallinules, moorhens, coots are rails too so it makes sense.

Oh my. I was wrong again!!! Yikes. Twice in one week. Gotta go hide my head... The ivory bar on the bill shut down my brain...

Cool Purple Gallinule! Love these little guys as chicks and adults...amazing how much change they go through in terms of the feathers and the bill. I do have to admit that the neck seems longer than it should be, and I've yet to see one with the white auricular feathers...Fine image James!

Cmon Artie, give.... what was your guess?

I saw the ivory bar on the bill and the long neck and assumed without giving it much thought that it was a tiny White Ibis chick. I have seen small baby PGs but never ever anywere near this close so my mind set was for a chick at or in the nest...

You gotta love it!
