I like the pose and action captured. Did the squirrel get away? I might sharpen the bird a bit more.

Incredible timing and action. A first for me . Excellent eye contact in the heron and good exposure. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, great action! I have seen a Great Blue Heron go after a squirrel, but he missed. Did the squirrl escape? Wonderful image.

Thx guys for looking and commenting. The squirell lost the battle unfortunately. Arthur, I had the 300 f2.8 + 2x (as a long lens setup) on the 350d as my backup camera because we were shooting mammals most of the day. The next frames, unfortunately, are a bit far apart:):D! I posted another in the series here : http://www.birdphotographers.net/forums/showthread.php?t=11073.

Although this image was made in early morning light and I got a very good histogram, I'm somehow at a loss as to how to improve the shot? Any suggestions would be welcome.
