A huge fohn wind from New Zealand's Southern Alps has whipped up the waves in this picture of waves approaching the Ashley Rivermouth at Waikuku Beach.
Fortunately wind was at my back and protected camera as much as possible from the stinging sand.
Details: Mid morning.
Pentax K10D with Tamron 70-300 @ 90mm and Tamron 1.4 Tele-converter.
400 ISO 1/125 @ F8.
Multi segment metering.

Hi Ian,
i though about this one for a while and played around quite a bit in PP. I did very similar corrections like i did in your previous post but also added a multiplied mask (around 40% opacity) on the sky. If you need help with that check here; http://www.birdphotographers.net/forums/showthread.php?t=14994
both Robert and I show a few different versions that may work for you.
Biggest thing with this one.......my crop. I felt the pano look really emphasized the power of the waves and it became more dark and moody. I also feel it strenghtens the water lines even more. You can always play around with a crop that is suitable for you but this will give you another idea or 2. Almost forgot.......ran noise ninja on the sky after my corrections.

I like Roman's crop a lot and again the powerful looking waves contrast well with the mountains. The pano crop makes this image. The sharpness issue your other image had is not as prevalent here but please see my post to that thread for a discussion on Hyperfocal distance.

Thanks Roman & Robert
Really like the increased energy provided by cropped foreground and superior colour depth.
Pano looks really good.
Appreciate your attention to detail and advice of workflow.
