Maybe Alfred knows!:D I'm guessing that this is a juvenile male American Avocet based on the "cinnamon wash" on the head and neck and straight, not upcurved bill and because I took this photo in early July by which time the there were no longer any chicks at the bird preserve. I watched him for several minutes as he stood on an embankment and I like the humor in this image. As always, I appreciate your C&C and thank you for looking.

Very nice image Katie,
Composition is good. I like the curved neck . The colors are very pleasing and the details are sharp. The background is simply beautifull...

Beauty and humor at the same time...who wouldn't love it? Gorgeous BG and wonderful exposure. I agree with Al that some of the FG can go but, other than that, perfection!!!

Very lovely with soft, wonderful light. The dark BKGR slash bugs me a bit. The upperparts feather looks a tad over-sharpened. I believe that this is a very worn breeding plumage adult as the wing feathers appear to be worn to the shafts.

Excellent composition and background. I like it as presented, although Al's suggestions might be something to consider. Anyhow, a beautiful shot.
