This guy landed on a rock close to me affording some good opportunities. When another Solitary Sandpiper flew close-by he turned towards it and sort of strutted around the rock as if procclaiming it as his. It did not last long, but was fortunate to come away with a nice pose. Also noticed a feather between the legs to eliminate...how did I miss that??:)

Canon 40D + 100-400L @400mm, aperture priority, 1/600s., f/7.1, ISO 400, no EC, handheld.

A nice image of a tough bird in tough light. COMP is very nice. The only thing that bugs me is that the shadow is so close to the edge of the rock.... Getting a few inches taller with the tripod might have helped...
