A second photograph, but this time the photo was taken this afternoon without the sun.

EOS-1D Mark II N + EF400mm f/5.6L USM + 20mm Extension Tube
@400mm, F/7.1, 1/400s, ISO-400, EV 0, Flash Off.

Very nice Guy! Were you in a blind shooting at 400mm with an extension tube? About the only thing that I might change is to remove the white blade of grass that runs into the leg on the right side of the image. Thanks for posting!

I agree with Doug about the blade of grass, and would also add some canvas above. Otherwise quite nice, and the cricket - face forward no less - is very cool :-)

Love the uniform diffuse lighting on the feathers, subtle colors and details in the breast feathers. Agree that a little canvas on top and trimming back the white rootlet would help. But, overall, I love it!

Yes Doug, I was in a blind for this picture and I will remove the white blade of grass.

Very nice Guy. I love the bird's eye, the cocked head and the cricket as well as the soft background.

The moss doesn't bother me - agree on more room on top. I really like your image. :)
