I saw a bunch of these guys at Nickerson Beach this past Saturday evening. I was most appreciative of them as they seemed to be the least skittish shorebirds of the bunch and ventured the closest to me.

Beautiful light, super sharp, and great eye contact. Like the bent leg too. Excellent job!

Beautiful shot Beth! Very sharp, great BG, clean FG, exp right on. I think that a little more canvas on the left, to move the tail shadow away from the frame edge would improve this already very fine image! Dan Brown

Your work continues to improve. I love everything about this one but the shadow does need a bit more room. Great to get so close to an adult. By the way, this bird is in worn breeding plumage: note that many of the feathers of the coverts are worn to the feather shafts. The juvies of this species will appear any day now, a few at first and in a good year, with numbers increasing over the next ten days. The East Pond at JBWR is the place to be on early morning high tides...

Thanks for the comments! I agree regarding giving more room for the shadow. I left the crop as it is because it seemed that the bird was too centered with more room at the left and leaving more room at the right meant a smaller subject. :) I will, however, re-crop.

Great light, pose and details. I might remove the sheen from the bill.
