Image made this evening in a community park here in the Lehigh Valley (PA). I like the Downy. I like the tree bark background. But I'm not sure I like the combination.

Canon 30D; Canon 300mm f/2.8L IS lens with Canon 2x TC; tripod-mounted.

1/320 sec @ f/5.6; ISO 800; 0 EV; Focal length 600mm (35mm equivalent is 960mm); Natural light.

I like the head turn but would have preferred if you would have been to your left. The trunk is a bit overpowering. I would sharpen the bird a bit more. Thanks for sharing!

I too would like to see a bit more of a profile, as I think the bird gets lost in the tree trunk. A couple of steps to your left, as Axel suggested, might have helped. Thanks for posting!

Agree, the bird gets lost in that bark. Next time, go for the side image.

Thanks guys. That was pretty much what I was thinking when I said "But I'm not sure I like the combination." The problem is there was no more left left. I would have had to move closer to create the angle and the Downy was kind of jumpy.

My biggest concern here was whether the bird looked good. I am still getting comfortable with the 300 2.8 and 2x TC.

Again thanks for the critiques. Much appreciated!
