This is a Crested Tern in breeding plumage.

Great pose and sharpness! I like the soft light too. I'd like to see a more distinct catchlight in the eye. And I might go a tad brighter on the bird. Here's a repost with those subtle changes.

Doug has nicely worked on the bird's ventral side. Without a catchlight it is difficult to make out the eye. You have caught the tern with a lot of sharpness.

The sharpening made this even better. I like the eye contact and BG.

Doug-thanks for the repost. I realized it was too dark when I looked at it the next day.
It probably pays to process the image and let it sit for a while and view it with new eyes later rather than posting straight away!
I have another of this species in flight which I will post today.
