Hi all...another shot of one of the resident Rufous Hummingbird females around my yard this summer...this one captured in very warm late afternoon light. Canon 40D with Sigma 300 f/2.8 and Sigma 2x on a mongoose 2.3 head and Gitzo 3530 legs. AV mode ISO 800 1/160s f/11 natural light.

Comments and critiques are welcome as always and much appreciated!

Cheers!

Lovely light Bruce! Like the pose and BG too. Some additional sharpening of the head, and in particular the eye, would help. Also I would trim a small amount of canvas from the bottom and add a little on the right. Thanks for posting!

I agree with Doug's critique and comp suggestion. Nice head angle. Is that pollen on the bill?

A beauty...and she almost looks sweet. We know better. lol Superb lighing really accentuates her true colors.

Nice image presented. I feel a slight softness on the forehead and crown.
Not sure some more sharpening could help.

Hi lovely shot of a bird we do not get in the UK so its nice to see all the detail, a little bit of canvas on the right for the bird to look into would make it even better :)

Well, it looks like there is a consensus on more room on the right and more sharpness on the head. Thanks everyone for looking and for your suggestions. Daniel, I'm not sure if that is pollen or not...

Cheers!

Nice portrait. I agree a little more USM would help.
