Hi Everyone,
OK, I promise that I won't post any more pelican close-ups for a while ... :)
I think the HA is OK and I've really tried to work on the eye, so I hope that I won't have to use my 'get out of jail free' card at all...:D:D
400D 100-400mm
ISO 200
AV F8 1/200 sec
Converted to B/W in PS elements 6.
Look forward to your C & C's!
Best regards to all,
Nicki

BTW His hair wasn't supposed to look bleached...

Niki I think this one has a good eye contact, so you might not run in trouble with the HAP:)

An interesting perspective of a pelican. The b&w version looks a bit flat though. In terms of RGB values, the brightest spot right now is still lower than 239. I think there's still room for a bit of contrast boost.

bleached!! looks like IR!! very cool. love the treatment. big fan of b&w. and it works here. may try the contast boost and may even try a slight sepia with this one. or at least a tick of red!! might be interesting.

i'm guessing that when it comes to adding color to a b&w it is a matter of taste, but i like what you did!! beautiful portrait!!

I like the original better, also. Why not post this in the OOTB forum? It's certainly good enough to be there! Your depth of field is much better on this one Nicki. Good job!!!

Hi Nicki Not sure if it makes much difference but try increasing local contrast a bit I think these type really need it !!! Like the way your brain works !!!! :)

Nicki, I agree with the above that like the original post better. Having said that, I love the feel to this shot the way you captured it. Excellent details, specially the eye.

Hey Nicki, this is about personal tastes, right? I like the repost best, to me, it has more depth and clarity. I do like how you see things---you inspire me to step out of convention. Thank you!
