I've just recently purchased my first macro lens and have only used it a couple of times. I can see that this could be a fun distraction when the birds are not cooperative.

Taken with a canon Rebel XTi and Canon 100mm macro lens on tripod with a cable release. Manual settings with flash at 1/200, f/16 ISO 400

Well seen Glenda. Nice patterns there. Experimenting with some shallow DOFs might yield interesting images in such cases. Just a thought...
