Another horrific vulture image.

White-backed vulture feeding of a wildebeest carcass.

Makgadikgadi National Park, Khumaga, Boteti River bed, Botswana.

I know, should have gone for a bit more DOF, at 1000mm the DOF is just sooo incredibly shallow...

Wow, that is a very dramatic image Vincent. I think that more separation between the tip of the vulture bill and the open mouth of the wildebeest would works better. I like it a lot

A most interesting series Vincent....I don't think you need more DOF here...that would make it rather boring IMO. Were you photographing from a blind, car, or what?

Thanks Jasper, I started of photographing from my car, but slowly crawled
closer towards the scene. Here I was on my knees, could not lie down, too
much grass obstructing. Btw have you got any suggestions on sharpening
techniques for the web?

Great job of framing and of getting the vulture sharp. Do you want to sharpen only the Gnu?

Interesting composition and great eye contact. Please note for you flight home, only one carrion per customer!

Holy crap. This sure is an attention grabber. I think your dof is perfect, as is the way you framed the scene and presented it. Just great work....
