I was out yesterday morning playing a bit with my new 300mm f/2.8L IS and came across this RWBB. I just thought this was a particularly "regal" looking pose.

I had posted a RWBB image a while back and we discussed drawing out the detail in the blacks and the blown out whites in the cattails. I think I did a little better this time around but I'll let you judge.

Canon 30D; aforementioned 300mm f/2.8L IS with Sigma 1.4x TC; Tripod-mounted

1/640 sec at f/5.6; ISO 400; +1/3 EV; Focal Length 420mm

Really nice work with the details and post, the large white spot is a little distracting - but otherwise this has such an excellent background color...

Great pose and exposure, I'd clone out the distracting lights in the foreground and maybe take some of the right side.

Thanks for your patience while we get fully operational!

I surely liked the pose Ed. The BG is neat too. But I felt that the bird was too centered & off-centering it by cutting off some pace from the right of the frame + providing some space to the left of the frame might improve it.
The image looks bit soft too.
Congrats on ur new lens. Looking fwd to see many more nice images from u...
