I am very curious about what you'll think of this image. How does the disclaimer in the movies go ..... no animals were injured in the production of this image. Actually I assure you the bird is fine. It had just had a thorough soaking in a bath, landed on the perch, shook all over and then bent over to rub the side of its head and neck against the perch.
Basically I did very little to the image - cropped, sharpened and tweaked color and contrast a tad.

So what say you? Let the HAP have at it:)

Gail, I think it's a great image, but song sparrows are my favorite birds, so I could be prejudiced. I'd add some canvas to the tight. It's razor sharp. I bet he was fun to watch.

Opps, I meant "right".

Personally, I think it's a behavior shot and so the look of it is secondary. But, it's just another newbee's opinion. Having said that, would it be better if you could shoot it from another angle so that we could see the cheek and the eye? I think so.

Good colors and details.

Well, it certainly made me giggle! :D

You seem to have all the aesthetics down - good DOF (depth of focus), really nice BG (background), good color saturation. If I could just see ONE EYE I'd be jumping up and down for ya! As it is...it leaves me with less of an emotional attachment to the bird whereas, with a good eye looking my way, he would have totally got a belly laugh out of me.

You were thiiiiiiiis close! :)

Hi Gail,
I need that eye, The composition and bird placement is good. The details are razor sharp and the colors are in check. I also like the capture and action displayed...

I see that eye. Perhaps you can adjust it individually to make it stand out more.
