I took this in Wyoming about three weeks ago. Having never seen one displaying I was taken with it's beauty. I was wondering however, about the blue cast to his head. Is this normal?

Nikon D300, 500mm Nikkor w/1.7 extender, 1/125 sec f/6.7, ISO-500, meter 3-d.

Any and all opinions are welcome.

The display looks great. It looks a bit undersaturated and the blades of grass in the foreground are a bit distracting. I would put the bird further to the right in the frame.

The blue on the head here is normal. The image is quite bright and you could raise the colour temperature just a bit.

Two very good critiques above. I would add that the whole image is too light. There are lots of ways to darken it. If you need some help with that, please let us know.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I am submitting a repost with what I think is a vastly improved image using your suggestions, please let me know whether there is more that can be done or that I have gone down the wrong path. Thank you again for your help.

I do think the repost is better, at least colour-wise. The darks could go darker though (again, there a few ways to do this), but this is certainly headed in the right direction :-) I still have nothing on displaying male turleys, good for you to get this!

Rather than darkening the image, it appears that you have changed the color temp...

How is this repost. This time I darkened the image as Artie suggested. Hope it is better. Thanks again for your thoughts.

Well, now it looks like a turkey!
