Well still trying to get past the HAP :) maybe with this one.

D3
Sigma 300-800 zoom with 2x converter @1600mm
F11
1/250 th
+2.3EV
ISO 400

:)

OOF branch bottom right bothers me a bit - also maybe could take a bit more of the left hand side to get out of centre more.

Hey Mr. Lance,
Very nice composition, image and capture.

You know the movie WALL-E? No, I don't think there's bird in that movie. I was simply trying to be funny :o

Lance,

Just great! I think, could be wrong, that the straight on is fine for predator type birds and that stare rocks with those eyes. Exposure is grand, bg is grand.

Right side eye could be just a bit brighter maybe?

Lance, nice image! Did you adjust the eyes? Or are they naturally that bright and intense? Is there a way to get the details in the bright area on the bird's shoulder to show up more? There is wonderful feather detail on the rest of the body, but on my monitor I can't see any on the bird's right shoulder.

Are the darks a charcoal look? Or can you deepen/contrast those feathers and toes? The pupils look very intense black.

lovely look to this bird.

Cheryl - eyes have been sharpened thats pretty much all - side light, which is why the rhs eye is a bit darker.
Bird is charcoal except for black on the backs of its wings.

Hi Lance:

Great telephoto capture, wonderful resolution, sharpness, and the whites covered in your ev. Have not seen many photos taken at 1600mm that can hold a candle to your beauty. . . .

Thanks for sharing . . . Uncle Gus
BTW: With my attention drawn to the bird, I never even noticed the right bottom branch till you mentioned it. Admire your desire for perfection

I am embarrsed to say - this one come out of my rubbish bin.

I totTaly mis undesrtood the HA requirements and hence the shots that had the correct HA ended up in the rubbish bin - whilst I kept those that didn't have the correct HA. I am sure to find some more goodies amongst the former designated rubbish. :)
