The snail kites have been wonderful to photograph but the female has a special beauty all of her own. It has been a challenge to show of her beauty but felt this portrait displays what I was looking for.

Great picture, love the accurate colors, settings, sharpness and composition.
I respect your opinion, but my favorite on this species is the male, hard to get the correct exposure but an awesome bird.

lovely, judy. Beautiful light and background. Very sharp, too I might add. Do you ever get it wrong or leave your equipment behind? I really missed out on those kites this year. Are they still active?

I like the pose, setting and head angle and might try to lighten the shadow on the part of the plumage that is not sunlit.
