Well this was my first outing with my new toys - I bought a Mongoose 3.5 and a Gitzo 3530LS. There was a 35mph wind today so it was a bit of a test! I got quite a few images (hundreds in fact!) so it became difficult to decide which to submit.
Anyhow what do you think, is it a "natural shot" or is it a bit of a pig's ear with too much going on in the background? EOS 20D Canon 500mm f4 L IS plus 1.4TC
ISO 400
1/500 sec @ f5.6

I like it but I am keen to hear what you think I won't be offended if you don't like it!! I will try to submit another bearing in mind your comments.

Jon.

I like it. The bird is obviously a grasslands bird so grass it is. And nearly all are pleasingly placed, esp. the big curving one in the urc. A perfect rule of thirds and a perfect head angle. My only suggestion would be to selectively lighten the face (and maybe the iris too).

BTW, thanks so much for your purchase.

Lovely habitat shot. Personally I like such images showing vast habitats. It gives a depth & sense of being there...
Liked the composition. Exposure seems fine to me. A lovely image over all.

I like the setting and pose and wish for a catchlight in the eye.
