A little heavier crop than I would have liked, but I like the background. I know, it would have been nice if the upper wing was fully extended. 20fps wasn't enough in this case, no image with both wings extended
and the tail feathers fanned.

Jack:

I think the image tells the winter story well. Good eye contact, and I like the background too. Sharp, well exposed. If we could just get the birds to pose better in flight!

Cheers

Apart from the slight IQ degrading , caused by the large cropping ... a stunning image for my taste .
I would be more than ok with the wings , love the pose and the overall winter feel . The head is about perfect

Super shot Ok maybe reduce the crop a little?. Love the pose and the grass at the base - super image.

Ooh, I wish I had this in my files, especially being the male of the species. Yes, the upper wing being raised higher would have earned bonus points, but the overall image certainly is top-notch. Nice background, with the faint strands of grasses below adding so much. Nicely done despite the big crop.
