Seeing Artie's eagle portrait emboldened me to post this from a few weeks ago.
A Little Egret in breeding plumage. Didn't have time to zoom back when it suddenly took off.
BG is shaded water.

Colin"

In your face, quite dramatic. Uncertain about the roughly vertical area in front of the bird. Is this from post processing? Wouldn't expect a lot of motion blur at this shutter speed.

Cheers

Thanks Randy. That area is a bit of careless PP, reducing a strong tree reflection. Fixed in the re-post.
The others are OOF ripples.

Dramatic pose. It just looks over processed to me. Excessive contrast, noise reduction and sharpening.

The lighting is very dramatic, but the overexposed front edge of the bird's right wing pulls our attention away from the face (where it needs to be). I agree that the bird looks over processed. And did you clone anything in the the BG? I really like the disused waves, but there are some
odd/irregular patches.

Taking all comments together, here's another shot at it. Reduced the glare of the right wing, and backed off on sharpening.

Hi Colin .. kind of dramatic shot and lighting .
Last RP looks best .
Personally I think too much NR , might be just me .
