Young female on the hunt as she spotted a small head of Impala about 300m behind us. She used the tallish grasses to great advantage until some nesting birds gave an alarm call.

Thanks to those who commented and or viewed.

Ok so it's a cheetah indeed, and definitely female...just look at the pretty face features! And clearly she is about to chase something, judging by the focused look...Very well seen and captured:w3

Composition looks good and I quite like those tall grasses all around, after all they are part of the environment and often help conceal predators when stalking prey. Background nice and smooth, helps the subject stand out. Love the colours.

Just my guess, light probably quite harsh (just curious, was this captured around lunch time, or late morning?) though well handled, whites look good. Pose is superb. Subject sharp with good detail. Did she catch an impala? The birds might have alerted the herd, it often happens.

I like the image as presented, and for a number of reasons. Of all the predators I find the cheetah most challenging to portray because I sometimes battle with colour and texture. I do want my subjects to 'pop' but when out there I often see their coats as dull, grey, and coarse. Sadly, this memory stays with me when I am in front of the computer. You somehow manage to process your frames in such a way that nothing is lost and you know precisely how much vibrance and saturation the subject can take without looking awkward. Enjoyed viewing, very much, albeit a little jealous, beautiful work Steve and I thank you so much for sharing!

Warmest regards,

If he can get the air fair and the Piggy bank can stretch to the location, he's more than welcome to share our vehicle in Africa, it's ours for the duration Gabriela. :S3:

All the best Gabriela, hopefully I will have shifted this cold/cough by then, but I'm sure we will correspond in between. Safe flight and lets be careful out there.

A Cheetah on patrol ... well captured and I do like the concentrated gaze .
IQ good as always , colors looking quite ok ... just think the color contrast in the fur is a we bit strong for my taste . A bit of a " patchy " appearance ... but maybe the individual was showing this textures .
I wish for more room on LHS

Cool shot Steve and TFS Andreas
