Hi Jon nice try for a grab shot ... but for me it is not working overall .

The colors and tones looking nice and very natural ....

Personally not a fan of the shooting angle and the comp ... sharpness has suffered due to the shutter speed .Just my take Jon

Love the rock just too much water for the background swallows the bird up. Like the wing and feet position HA is superb. Colors look good. Maybe would help if you cut some of the canvas from the top. TFS

Thanks for the feedback, the angle was impossible to change, this was taken from a bridge about 10-15m distance, the composition, isn't perfect but I like it, mainly because this is how it was at the time. I quite like the background but I appreciate your reservation.

My favorite part is the shadow of the feet against the far wing and the pattern of the water along the bottom area of the boulder. Apart from that I am afraid it doesn't click much with me as well. Fun to experiment with different situations though!

Got to agree with the comments above...If the IQ holds I would try cropping in from the LHS and showing half the rock..and some from the top and bottom....I can see why you wanted to show the rock and the lovely water.

Dear Jon,

Bird is sharp and I love the wing position as well as those little feet! Nice head angle too. Maybe crop some off the top, not sure...Thank you so much for sharing:S3:

Warmest regards,
