This is so sweet! I love that the toes are just touching the perch, and I like the subtle wing blur you achieved. Perch is interesting, background is beautiful, and pose and composition work perfectly. One of the best frames you've posted. Bravo.

I am envious that you can shoot this bird in your backyard. Spent a lot of time this year in Portugal and Spain and never captured an image of this bird as nice as this. Great wing position shows the subtle colors of the flanks and sides. Image to be proud of.

Hi Jon ... a very nicely executed frame of the starting Goldfinch . Details , sharpness and tones looking very good .
Comp does look ok , I would prefer a 3x2 ratio ...

Have you used a warming filter in front of the lens ? To me the WB does look again off .... but you were there , will hold back with a neutralized RP . Colors are subjective at times ...

Perfectly captured Jon....Good work....Flight pose, perch, detail all very nice....The BG works well and the colours on the bird look good....Been doing this type of photography for a wee while now.....It is difficult but so rewarding when it all comes together....

Yes and yes! This is the best one yet from your backyard series. I love the foot positions. Keep it up!
