What a beautiful winter wonderland we experienced not long ago with a ton of new snow that clung onto every branch in the forest! Very fortunate as well with a flock of Evening Grosbeaks hanging around a bird feeder, and looking even better than usual against all that fresh and pure white!!

Canon R6 + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1250s., f/5.6, ISO 3200, handheld, just about FF, eye clean-up, contrast and saturation to taste, bluish cast reduced from the snow.

A DANdy of a shot sir.

Your snow shots are always clean and well done IMO. Can't beat a colorful subject like this on pure white.

The snow definitely spiced up the otherwise dead tree. Great eye contact and details down to the talon-nails. Like the comp, tfs!

Really love the pop of color from the subject against the snowy BG! Nice detail too!

Bird cracks in those surrounds, and wider crop works well since the subject demands so much attention. Eye sucks us in, and there's just enough of the feet to keep it interesting. Envious as this bird is one I rarely see (and haven't photo'd beyond documentary shots).

Hi Daniel this is so simple and so nice at the same time , subject is jumping at me and i do like the overall wider comp .
Color and tones looking very nice ... do not know the bird , but i might push the tones a touch in the plumage .
Would lose the dark twig in LRC

A very pleasing image !!!

Hi Dan, with the stark white environment juxtapose to the super bright/colourful bird, it pops nicely and the eye is drawn direct to the subject. The curved perch is super cool.

Hi Dan, I remember these birds from when I lived up north. They always seemed to arrive at the feeders in a flock during a snow storm. Beautiful image, the bird really looks great against the snow. Thank you for sharing.
