Hi folks it seems to be Squirrelmania right now , well i have truck loads to participate :bg3:

Here is one of my endless trial and error shots to capture them airborne :S3: , i know the FG and BG might be very busy and you find it distracting ... i am happy at this stage . Would have wished for a cleaner surrounding , but we have to work with what we get .
It is a relatively large crop for my liking , but again i have no other option . Have chosen the pano comp to avoid even more dead space .
Wonder what you guys think .

Well focused and sharp, all paws are clearly delineated . The background from my point of view is fine, most aerial shots of squirrels look like setups i.e. jumping from one perch to another, this appears more natural to me. Colours look realistic, I am guessing the framing was for good reason, I am curious why it is so relatively wide.
I thought most camera manufacturers had Procapture in mirrorless cameras now .....is this not the case with the R3? You are lucky to have the squirrels conveniently located, it is at least 2hr drive for me to get where they are..... looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks Jon for your kind comment , much appreciated .

Framing / cropping was dictated by the original capture ... as the Squirrel is quite small in the frame and was more on the RHS of the frame . Lots of dead space to the left ... as the subject was moving to the right . Hope this explains my thoughts about the comp.
R3 has no ProCapture and as the Squirrels are running around fully uncontrolled , it is very difficult for me to predict if they gonna approach me or not .
Short drive for me to the location .... still not easy to get good shots , very dense the park in terms of vegetation with not much of light available ... lots of people and dogs :w3.
Basically i try to sit somewhere and try to attract them to run towards me .... most of the times i am simple not fast enough in brain and finger :bg3:

The classic jump, works, but as an option, perhaps going more Autumnal????

RP is only for direction of habitat not subject.

Interesting it's the same folk still viewing but not commenting????

Thanks Steve ... will try the " autumnal variation " tonight when at home.
The colors of my OP are just reflecting the colors of the scene .

Hi Andreas, you captured the squirrel mid-air, well timed! The head-on pose, those little claws and vertical ears are lovely. The BG is what it is, wish it was cleaner but no deal breaker here. Looks like you are having fun with the R3 and 100-500 lens.

Hello Andreas,

A fun image with lots to look at, well seen and taken.

Subject is sharp and nice colours too. I like both versions in terms of BG.

Wish there was one big nut in the FG :bg3:

Have a lovely Sunday,

Kind regards,
