Andreas:

Nice display of that amazing "Jimmy Durante" bill. Blacks nicely handled. Not bothered by the very dark area under the tail, it is expected. Nice view of the foot/talons. Soft background. Simple, but well presented.

This is a species I see all the time but have never taken the time to photograph properly. So, this sits very well with me. Exposure looks great, head angle is ideal, and the comp is perfect.
I really like the detail on the scaly feet. Stump is appreciated as most around here perch either high or trees, low on man-made posts, or on the ground. Very nice.

Clean and simple, perfect control of the blacks with truck loads of detail. Killer backdrop with no detraction, just works.

One thought, a very simple Channel % blend mode in PS would help the perch and reduce the 'brighter' elements and add some more tone back it.

A simple adjustment, with mega results, the power of PS is endless and only achievable with PS.
