Hi Colin ... nice closeup of this beautiful bird .I specially like the " cocked head with the inquisitive look " ... very call and typical for all, parrots .
Nice detail and sharpness in the shoulder plumage ... looks like the eye is not as sharp ??!!
The reds are missing details ... check the red channel , is just blown .

Thanks Andreas, interesting about the eye sharpness because the AF point was smack in the middle.
Also the blown reds raises a problem. In PS they are well away from blown either end with plenty of detail, but in the web image they are blown both ends. What to do about that?

Colin ... if the full size tiff is not blown at all , then it is your way of downsizing the file IMHO .
I am never having an issue with that ...

The eye sharpness might be an optical illusion , as the shoulder does appear very sharp compared to eye and neck ( lying in the same focal plain ) ..... plus with your rig being close you are having only a few mm of DOF .

Colin, if you are exporting from Lr & sharpening in PS at the 'output size' NOT sharpening then cropping all should be good, but you cannot compare a Tiff with a JPEG, Millions of colours compared to web 256 colours.

Can't do much about the reds, but taking the OP into Lr, exporting and sharpening in PS all looks good to me, perhaps your sharpening regime needs a tweak?

Yes, the "enamel" reds are the main issue here, but I gotta say the details on the green feathers are quite good. Our Scarlet Tanagers here also give us mini headaches dealing with their reds! Sometimes adding some cyans to the reds helps. Quite a cute bird here.
