Hi folks .... shot this Robin while waiting for Red Squirrels , he just came along and I took the given shooting options .
The full or partial circles in the BG are in the original capture .... not sure what causes that effect , just removed one really bright one from center of the frame .

Canon EOS R3
RDF 100 - 500 IS L at 500 mm
HH

F 7,1 ; ISO 16000 ; 1/1600 sec ; man exp

Processed with Capture One and PSCC 2022 ; slight crop all around ( 90 % of FF ) , some clean up in FG in combo with a bit of D&B .

Thanks for watching and commenting to my previous thread

Cheers Andreas

Andreas, a very pleasing frame. What stands out is the rich, lush greens and the pastel bkg.

The use of diagonals is great and I have always been a fan of specular highlights that are not random or arbitrary. While the main one does encompass the Robin's head, they are still pretty to me.

Also really like that you have not overdone the noise reduction - a bit of subtle grain is appreciable. Nice use of gradients in the fg. Composition is strong.

Only wish is more head turn by the subject. Next time tell him/her to look at you and smile first ;-)

Andreas, I am sure you have processed deliberately so my comments are entirely personal. In general I think too much colour, the greens appear too vivid and I get the impression the Robin is carrying a bucket full of orange (maybe some yellow?) and a hint of green on the belly area.
Sharpness and composition just fine - sorry but I am not keen on the colours otherwise very good indeed.

Thanks Brian and Jon for your kind comments , much appreciated .

@ Brian .... okidoki next time I try to tell him about the head angle , I think you are right .

@ Jon .... for sure is your comment entirely personal , mine as well , to me nothing in those greens is too vivid nor is anything clipped in any color , tons of details to find in the moss :S3:. I think my rendered colors are " exactly how they appear to me " when I go to the tree , depending on the angle of light they might appear different . But no problem if you do not like them .... tastes are different :bg3:.Most of the times you are complaining about my greens .... whether it is in Avian or Wildlife , so it is a general thing :bg3: . Just for your info .... no special pushing of any color .
Only thing I would change is the green reflection in the belly area .... had that in mind during the processing , but thought I will walk through the test here :bg3:.

Cheers Andreas

Hi Andreas, beautiful little bird, very similar to the American Robin here. All looks good to me, thank you for sharing.

Lovely light and natural environment. Nice detail. Not sure about the highlights, being sharp edged it looks a bit like you have randomly dabbed the dodge tool, not that you did!
Frustrating about birds and their head turn, they just don't cooperate sometimes.

Thanks Joe and Colin for your kind comments , much appreciated .

@ Colin ... as described in my intro the " effect " is in the captured raw ! No random work on the BG .... :bg3: .... and I do use the dodge tool for sure not in that way :w3
